Every language has every page: a page that has not been translated yet is shown in English, so nothing is missing whichever language you pick.

Note

• The English documentation is the reference and the most complete. It covers every statement and function in BASIC-256 2.3.
• The translations cover part of the language. Statements and functions added since version 2.1 are documented in English only for now.
• The French translation was completed in August 2013.
• The Dutch documentation was completed in January 2012 and is written for young readers from the age of 10.
• The Russian translation was made on the old wiki and is the third largest.
• The German translation is the oldest and the least complete.
• Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian and Greek were listed on the old wiki but were never written. A translation into any language is welcome: see Contributing below.

La documentation en anglais est la référence et la plus complète : elle décrit toutes les instructions et fonctions de BASIC-256 2.3. Les traductions ne couvrent qu'une partie du langage ; une page qui n'est pas encore traduite s'affiche en anglais. Les instructions ajoutées depuis la version 2.1 ne sont pour l'instant documentées qu'en anglais. La traduction française a été réalisée en août 2013. Toute aide à la traduction est la bienvenue.

De Engelse documentatie is de basisdocumentatie en is altijd de meest complete: ze beschrijft alle opdrachten en functies van BASIC-256 2.3. De vertalingen behandelen een deel van de taal; een pagina die nog niet vertaald is, wordt in het Engels getoond. Opdrachten die sinds versie 2.1 zijn toegevoegd, zijn voorlopig alleen in het Engels beschreven. De documentatie in het Nederlands werd in januari 2012 volledig bijgewerkt en is geschreven voor jonge lezers vanaf 10 jaar. Wil je helpen met vertalen of aanvullen? Dat is van harte welkom.

Документация на английском языке является основной и наиболее полной: в ней описаны все команды и функции BASIC-256 2.3. Переводы охватывают только часть языка; страница, которая ещё не переведена, показывается на английском. Команды, добавленные после версии 2.1, пока описаны только на английском. Помощь с переводом приветствуется.

Die englische Dokumentation ist die Referenz und die vollständigste: Sie beschreibt alle Befehle und Funktionen von BASIC-256 2.3. Die Übersetzungen decken nur einen Teil der Sprache ab; eine Seite, die noch nicht übersetzt ist, wird auf Englisch angezeigt. Befehle, die seit Version 2.1 hinzugekommen sind, sind vorerst nur auf Englisch beschrieben. Die deutsche Übersetzung ist die älteste und am wenigsten vollständige. Hilfe bei der Übersetzung ist sehr willkommen.

Corrections, new pages and translations are all welcome, and none of them needs an account on this site:

• Report a mistake or a missing page as an issue on the documentation's GitHub repository.
• Send a change as a pull request to uglymike17/Basic256-Docs. Each page is a Markdown file in docs/<language>/, and a translation simply replaces the English copy of the page with the same file name in that language's folder.
• Or talk to us on Discord.

About This Site

The BASIC-256 documentation began as a wiki kept by Jim Reneau and the BASIC-256 community, and the translations above were written there over many years. In 2026 its pages were carried over to this site, built with Docusaurus, together with the documentation for everything added to the language since. The wiki's user accounts did not come across and are no longer needed: changes are now made through GitHub, as described above.
